The #WeFo Resistance Kolsch
Viva Le Resistance! What are we resisting? Everything except flavour and refreshment - let's fight! Or brew :-)
- 1 Can Thomas Coopers Pilsener Malt Kit 1.7kg
- 1 Kg Briess Dry Malt Pilsen Light
- 150g crushed Pilsener malt
- 150g crushed Wheat malt
- 40g Hallertau hop pellets
- Fermentis US-05 yeast
Bottled off the WeFo Resistance Kolsch on Sat 15th Sep and was demonstrating a nice cloudy wheat haze and strong aromatics from the Motueka hop flowers. Nice light tasting beer with a fresh tannin bite that I expect to mellow after a couple of weeks bottle conditioning time. Should be ready to enjoy on Grand Final Day Sat 29th Sept 2012. Let's hope the sun is shining and the WeFo Resistance fights off the winter greys and blues.
Fri 18 Oct good hoppy nose from the Motueka hops, banana bite still present but noticeable how the fresh fruitiness dissipates over time
Dermott, Nice work on the Kolsch. Nice primer for BBQ this evening. Dry hopping with Motueka hops fit incredibly well with this one.
Have a nice pic but can’t seem to post it in the reply.
Looking forward to that porter buddy.
Old Master,
I love reading about your brews. I have been making Mangrove Jacks Munich Lagers for a while, just the kit, #60 German Lager enhancer and usually Muntons Premium Gold yeast (which has now been discontinued). It is average – I used to do Brewcraft Munich before Brewcraft went bust (or whatever happened).
Anyway, am experimenting this weekend by putting down a Black Rock Dry Lager and a Blonde (think it’s Mangrove Jacks).
Keep up the good work,
Jim.
Hi Jim,
Glad to hear you are experimenting a bit with your brews of choice. I used Black Rock Brown Ale for my Nut Brown Ale or International Nutta Brown Ale – see earlier post. Great drop and still a favourite with adorers of Dowlmott’s brews. Try a mini mash with your next brew and use some wheat malt. Ask at a home brew shop how to go about it and its easy peasy on the stove top – brew on my hoppy friend
Tasted this drop on Sat 29th at Mazzy’s 4th birthday bash and despite the WeFo Resistance fight against the eternal winter the rain clouds did circle. Good wheat haze and zing off the back palate from the Motueka green hops. Banana taste apparent. Disappointed with 2 foamers so will be testing some more for good measure shortly :-)
