The hawthorn berries  is a nutrient rich berry commonly found across Europe.  It has a tart, tangy taste with mild sweetness notes. 

Commonly seen lining the country roads used as natural fencing around farms borders, much like the Sloe Berry Bush.  

The hawthorn berry has been used for centuries as a flavour in numerous dishes as well as spirit.  Once commonly used in Gin, they are less well used today but some might say ready for a come back kid! Hawthorn was also a star of the show in ancient Chinese brews with a local craft brewery making a fine kettle sour based on an ancient Chinese brew - made with rice, honey and hawthornberries
