Excise Tax gets Jacked Up Again! - arrggghhhh! The 1 Feb CPI increase took effect and now your paying the following in excise tax (plus 10% GST) no tanks to our Federal Government:
Spirits (e.g. Vodka, Gin, Whisky) $107.99 per Litre of Pure Alcohol (LAL) Up from $105.98 (the 78th increase since 1983).
Packaged Beer (>3.5% ABV) $63.75 per Litre of Pure Alcohol (LAL) Applies to cans/bottles sold at bottle shops.
Draught Beer (Tap) $43.39 per Litre of Pure Alcohol (LAL) FROZEN. No increase due to the 2-year tax freeze.
Wine 29% (WET) Taxed on value (WET), not alcohol volume.
