Corn has been extensively used in both Brewing and Distilling.  Beers often are brewed using substantial percentages of adjuncts such as corn (maize) or rice in order to achieve an extreme degree of lightness in color, clarity, calories, and flavor.  Corn or Maize is extensively used in Distilling most notably in making American Style Whiskey or Bourbon where Corn forms the majority of the Grist.
