Crisp Vienna Malt
Crisp Vienna Malt
$18.95/5Kg - $75.95/25Kg (SAVE 20%)

In the 1840s English maltsters developed air kilning techniques that would pave the way for light coloured beers. German brewers took this technique back to Vienna and Munich respectively and the malt styles were born.

Crisp Vienna Malt is made from English 2-row spring barley and is kilned to a slightly higher temperature than the Crisp Best Ale Malt. The result is a golden hued wort with a sweet, bread like aroma and flavour. Since it is a conventionally kilned malt, Vienna can be used as a base and is perfect creating its namesake, Vienna lager, in addition to other styles.

The subtle malty flavours associated with Vienna Malt provide toffee and caramel notes.

NEW! Lallemand Brewing Voss Kveik Ale Yeast
$7.95 / 11g sachet

Kveik is a Norwegian word meaning yeast. In the Norwegian farmhouse tradition, kveik was preserved by drying and passed from generation to generation. Kveik is the original, traditional dried yeast! The LalBrew® Voss strain was obtained from Sigmund Gjernes (Voss, Norway), who has maintained this culture using traditional methods since the 1980s and generously shared it with the wider brewing community.

LalBrew® Voss supports a wide range of fermentation temperatures between 25-40°C (77-104°F) with a very high optimal range of 35-40°C (95-104°F). Very fast fermentations are achieved within the optimal temperature range with full attenuation typically achieved within 2-3 days. The flavor profile is consistent across the entire temperature range: neutral with subtle fruity notes of orange and citrus. Flocculation is very high producing clear beers without filtration or use of process aids.

If you are new to brewing you will soon learn that healthy yeast makes better beer.  Simply place your yeast propagation flask on top of the stir plate and drop in the stir bar. Switch on the machine and adjust the spin speed.

The best place to start with making healthy yeast is to build up their numbers.
We like to use Brewers Friends Yeast Calculator to find out how much yeast you need to build up to get the best possible beer fermented.
