Make a clean, flavourful all-grain wash for whisky, or use it as a versatile base for grain vodka or gin. This bundle combines a fresh Australian malt wash with the yeast, enzyme, carbon and clearing agent needed for fermentation and clarification.

Distillation equipment is not included. Always follow the instructions for your equipment and applicable local laws.

Wash specifications

  • Supplied volume: approximately 16.5L in an HDPE cube
  • Recommended dilution: add 3L of water before fermentation, or ferment undiluted for a richer, higher-gravity wash
  • Starting gravity: approximately 1.080 before dilution
  • Estimated alcohol: approximately 7.5% ABV
  • Malts: Australian Pale Ale Malt and Carahell

Directions

  1. Transfer the wash to a clean, sanitised fermenter. Add 3L of water if desired.
  2. Sprinkle the Whiskey Distillers Yeast and Glucoamylase Enzyme over the wash.
  3. Massage the unopened Turbo Carbon sachet to break up lumps, then add and stir thoroughly.
  4. Ferment at 20–35°C. Cooler fermentation is slower and generally cleaner; warmer fermentation is faster and can produce more ester character.
  5. Check with a hydrometer. Fermentation is complete when readings remain stable for two consecutive days, typically after 3–5 days.
  6. Degas the wash thoroughly. Add Part A of Turbo Clear, stir well and leave for one hour.
  7. Slowly add Part B while stirring gently, then leave for 24 hours to clear. Cold crashing can assist clarification.
  8. Once clear, proceed according to the instructions for your distillation equipment.
